Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP attorney Katherine M. Kettering served as an advisor this past weekend for the YMCA Youth & Government delegation from the Chicago Academy for the Arts (CAA) at the Youth & Government 104th assembly in Springfield, Illinois.
Over the course of the program, CAA’s delegation engaged with the Illinois government hands-on. The culmination of their efforts was a three-day event at the Illinois Capitol and Supreme Court, where students presented and debated their bills from committee to the floors of the House and Senate.
Illinois YMCA Youth & Government program is designed to develop leadership skills in high school students and encourage civic engagement through direct participation in government proceedings.
