A former employee has filed a lawsuit against a prominent security services company, alleging severe workplace misconduct and discrimination. Alexis Adams lodged the complaint on March 24, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, targeting Allied Universal Security Services as the defendant.
The case revolves around allegations of sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and retaliation that Adams claims to have experienced during her employment with Allied Universal. According to the complaint, Adams was initially employed by Allied Universal from June 2020 until November 2021 and was rehired in February 2023. During her second tenure, she reported enduring persistent harassment from a coworker named Roman Rufino. The alleged harassment included derogatory comments and unfounded rumors about her personal life. Despite reporting these incidents to her supervisor Samuel Depoorter and other company officials, Adams contends that no effective action was taken to address her complaints. "The continuation of the hostile work environment even after multiple complaints," is cited as evidence of inadequate response by the company.
Adams further alleges that after reporting the harassment through various channels including an anonymous hotline and direct communication with HR personnel like Tracy Dollar and Anna Soja, she faced retaliatory actions culminating in her termination under dubious circumstances. The complaint details how Adams was offered a transfer with a promised pay increase which was not honored beyond one pay period. Additionally, complications arose when she requested medical leave due to pregnancy issues; her request was ultimately denied leading to what she describes as an unjust termination.
In seeking justice, Adams requests back pay, front pay, lost wages, compensatory damages for emotional distress among other reliefs. She asserts that throughout her employment she met or exceeded performance expectations but suffered adverse actions due to discriminatory practices violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Illinois Human Rights Act.
Representing Alexis Adams are attorneys Cass T. Casper and Nicholas M. Bowman from Disparti Law Group P.A., while the presiding judge's name remains unspecified in Case No. 1:25-cv-03088.
