In a bold legal move, a plaintiff has taken on a major electronics corporation, alleging deceptive advertising practices that could affect countless consumers. On April 10, 2025, Kalp Khamesra filed a class action complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Hisense USA Corporation. The lawsuit accuses Hisense of falsely advertising its televisions as containing advanced QLED technology when they allegedly do not.

The complaint details how Hisense marketed certain models of its televisions as having QLED or quantum dot (QD) technology. However, according to Khamesra and his legal team, these claims are misleading because the televisions either lack this technology entirely or contain it in such negligible amounts that it does not enhance performance as advertised. The plaintiff argues that this misrepresentation allowed Hisense to charge premium prices for what are essentially standard LED televisions. "Had Plaintiff and other Class Members known that the QLED televisions did not contain QLED technology," states the complaint, "they would not have bought the Hisense QLED televisions, or else would have paid substantially less for them."

Khamesra's lawsuit seeks to hold Hisense accountable under Illinois's consumer fraud statute, citing violations including fraud and negligent misrepresentation. The plaintiff is seeking restitution for himself and other affected consumers who purchased these misrepresented products. Additionally, he demands an injunction to prevent Hisense from continuing these allegedly deceptive marketing practices.

Represented by attorneys Andrea R. Gold and David A. McGee from Tycko & Zavareei LLP along with Adam A. Edwards and William A. Ladnier from Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman PLLC, Khamesra aims to achieve justice not only for himself but also for all similarly situated individuals who were misled by Hisense's marketing tactics. The case is identified as Case No. 1:25-cv-03919 and awaits judgment in the Northern District of Illinois.
