IL AG files suit against Cicero mortgage rescue operation, alleging fraud
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed suit against a mortgage rescue operation in Cicero, alleging Carrey Services Inc., and its president, Reynaldo Rojas,charged clients about $20,000 without providing any help to people in danger of losing their homes.
Park Ridge homeowners win appellate round vs Advocate over Lutheran General flooding
Park Ridge homeowners have retained a window of hope in their campaign to hold neighboring Advocate Lutheran General Hospital liable for flooding. After the Cook County Circuit Court dismissed two counts of the homeowners’ class-action complaint, the First District Appellate Court reversed one of those dismissals in an unpublished order issued in December. The issue arose from a Sept. 13, 2008, storm and a subsequent Feb. 12, 2009, class action complaint.
Property values continue to decline in Cook County after recession; new property values shows signs of uneven recovery
According to data released by the Cook County Tax Assessor’s office, property values in Cook County townships are stabilizing, but still declining, producing signs the local real estate markets are inconsistently recovering from the economic crash about seven years ago, observers said.
