Chicago Heights man seeks judicial review of denial of unemployment benefits

A Chicago Heights man seeks a judicial review of a denial of unemployment benefits by the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).

David Sykes filed a pro se complaint for administrative review May 5 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the denial of benefits is not in accordance with state law.

According to the complaint, in a finding issued in April by IDES’ board of review, Sykes had been denied unemployment benefits from his previous employer, Menlo Logistic Inc. In the letter of denial attached to Sykes’ complaint, the IDES board of review found Sykes to be unqualified for the benefits in question.

Sykes seeks a judicial review of the denial decision and requests that IDES file a record of the proceedings that led to said denial.

The plaintiff is acting on his own behalf in this pro se complaint.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015LO50331.
