A father is suing a man employed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family (DCFS) Services after alleged false statements were made about possible child abuse.
Victor Wilburn filed a lawsuit Oct. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against George Redmon, citing false light, invasion of privacy, defamation, negligent infliction of severe emotional distress and intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 23, 2012, Redmon was working as a child protection advanced specialist with DCFS and was at Pablo Casals Elementary School to investigate a report filed by the school of suspected child abuse by Wiburn on account of his son' s black eye.
Wilburn says he went to pick his children up from the school when Redmon approached him and allegedly began to maliciously and falsely make statements about Wilburn's suspected abuse of his son. The complaint states these false statements were made in the presence of his children, school officials and other parents and children.
Wilburn is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. He is being represented in the case by attorney Joseph Younes.
