Erik L. Russell filed suit Nov. 5 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Parker-Holsman Co. over injuries he allegedly sustained as a result of the defendant's negligence.

According to Russell, he leased an apartment from the defendant in March 2008 at 29 E. 43 St. in Chicago. Russell claims he was in his apartment reaching for a cabinet when the cabinet fell on his head, causing injuries.

Russell asserts in his suit that the cabinets were in disrepair before he moved in and the defendant failed to provide him with a safe apartment.

Russell is seeking more than $30,000 in damages. He is represented by Chicago attorney Michael F. Conway.
