A welder is suing, claiming his employer's negligence caused him to sustain injuries.
Pablo Calderas filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Luis Martinez, Luis Martinez & Son Iron Work Inc. and Jose Luciano Velazquez, citing negligence.
The complaint states on July 19, 2012, Calderas was performing work for the defendants when Martinez directed him to use a forklift to reach a welding point. Calderas claims he stood on the forklift while Martinez raised the mast, but Martinez suddenly moved the forklift, causing him to fall.
Calderas is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs, is represented by Craig L. Manchik and Lynne Plum Duffey of Law Offices of Craig L. Manchik & Associates P.C.
