Fence falls on man, lawsuit results

Morton

A Robbins resident is being sued after a fence falls on hired help.

Francisco Wilson filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Norman Smith, citing negligence.

Wilson says on July 19, he was hired by Smith to cut down a tree located in Smith's yard at 4208 W. 135th St. in Robbins. The complaint states that while Wilson was disposing of the tree in Smith's yard, an iron and brick fence fell on him.

He claims Smith failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to warn, failed to barricade the fence and failed to prevent the plaintiff from being near the defective fence.

Wilson is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented in the case by attorney Steven J. Morton of Steven J. Morton & Associates Ltd.
