Woman sues, claims she was harassed over debt she never incurred

A Naperville resident is suing a financial institution, claiming it harassed her trying collect on a debt she never incurred.

Gail F. Thompson filed a lawsuit Oct. 21 in the Cook County Circuit Court against US Bank National Association, citing fraud.

According to the complaint, the defendant attempted to collect on a $4,000 business loan application filed online May 25, 2012.

Thompson alleges she never applied for the loan, and the application was filed by someone who stole her personal information. She further states she filed a fraud claim with the defendant's company in November 2012, but the claim was denied.

She contends the defendant's negligence in its online application has resulted in a decreased financial rating, and alleges the defendant has harassed her and her son attempting to collect on the loan.

Thompson is seeking damages in the amount of $1 million and is representing herself in the case pro se.
