A woman is suing over claims she was injured when a dog attacked her dog.

Anita Goodman filed a lawsuit March 5 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jose Garcia, citing negligence and the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to the complaint, Goodman was walking her dog past the property owned by Garcia on West 56th Place in Summit on Jan. 1, 2013, when Garcia's dog attacked and bit her dog. Goodman claims she fell to the ground to protect her dog and sustained injuries.

Goodman is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Michael A. Kosner of The Deratany Firm.
