A user of the city's transit system is suing over a slip and fall incident at the Evanston station, which she claims is not properly accessible for persons with disabilities.
Vicky Patterson filed a lawsuit April 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Patterson was at the CTA's Purple Line station at 601 S. Blvd. in Evanston on July 11, when she was forced to walk down stairs while disabled, causing her to slip and fall.
She claims the CTA was negligent by failing to properly provide alternative means of ingress/egress, use reasonable care in protecting passengers, remedy the dangerous condition and make the station accessible for persons with disabilities.
Patterson is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorneys with Damisch & Damisch Ltd.
