Woman accuses Village Discount of negligence after chair breaks

A woman is suing a discount outlet after she allegedly fell off a chair.

Maria Mier filed a lawsuit April 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Village Discount Outlet Inc., citing negligence.

The lawsuit states Mier was in the store on April 17, 2012, when she sat on a displayed chair in the furniture section and it broke, causing her to fall. She claims she sustained serious injuries, disability, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and is now liable for medical bills.

Mier is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Frank Olavarria of the Law Offices of Frank J. Olavarria P.C.
