Thorek Memorial Hospital and a doctor are being sued over claims they performed a procedure on a patient without his consent.
Brian Hess filed a lawsuit May 5 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Thorek Memorial Hospital and Dr. Ryan Malcom, citing medical malpractice.
According to the suit, Hess went to Thorek Memorial Hospital on April 22, 2012, complaining of a painful lump on his buttocks. He claims he gave Malcolm his approval to drain the abscess and remove a skin tag, but that the doctor also removed a series of hemorrhoids and tissue without his consent.
Hess alleges the procedures he did provide his consent for resulted in damage to his gastrointestinal system.
Hess is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented by Chicago attorneys Ardwin E. Boyer and Justin London.
