Sidewalk fall spurs premises liability claim against Village of Wilmette

A woman is suing over claims she was injured on uneven sidewalk in Wilmette.

Debra Rubin filed a lawsuit May 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Village of Wilmette, Edens Plaza LLC, Joseph Freed & Associates LLC, Chicago Title Land Trust Company, Edens Center Associates, JJF Edens LP, Antonia-Edens LP, Edens Properties Inc., Antonia Holdings 1 Inc. and a trustee Trust No. 4671-AH.

According to the complaint, Rubin was walking on the sidewalk at the northwest corner of Skokie Boulevard and Lake Avenue in Wilmette on Sept. 29, when she tripped on a steep incline between two slabs of the sidewalk and sustained injuries.

Rubin claims the defendants are responsible for the maintenance and control of the sidewalk and failed to correct the hazard.

The suit alleges premises liability and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Edward M. Rubin of Rubin Machado & Rosenblum Ltd.
