A Cook County woman is suing the City of Chicago and others over claims she had to have her foot amputated after a firework exploded near her last Fourth of July.
Kristina Perez filed a lawsuit May 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the city, Chicago Park District,, Thomas Legowski and Chris Gross, citing negligence.
Perez alleges Legowski, Gross and other unknown people lit a large explosive device near Perez at the West Lawn Park at 6600 S. Keeler Ave. in Chicago on July, when it landed near her and exploded with such force her right foot and lower leg had to be amputated.
Perez is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, court costs and whatever other relief the court deems just. She is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Milo W. Lundblad of Brustin and Lundblad Ltd.
