Presence Saint Francis Hospital and others are being accused of accidentally injecting air into a patient's brain cavity.
Charles Galloway, individually and as guardian of Beatrice Galloway, filed a medical malpractice lawsuit June 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Presence Saint Francis Hospital, Fresenius USA Manufacturing Inc., individually and doing business as Fresenius Medical Care North America, Fresenius Medical Care Rogers Park and Lakeside Nephrology Ltd.
Galloway claims Beatrice's brain was severely injured on July 7, 2012 when she was a patient at Presence St. Francis Hospital at 355 Ridge Ave. in Evanston. The suit states the defendants caused air to be injected into the vascular system of Beatrice's brain, which caused gas to be present in her brain cavity and led her to sustain brain damage.
Galloway, who alleges loss of companionship as a result of the defendants' alleged malpractice, is seeking damages and is being represented by Chicago attorney Marc A. Taxman of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak and Kohen Ltd.
