A man is suing over claims his family was evicted from their home as a result of a lawyer's legal malpractice.
Viorel Berar filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Cary G. Schiff and his firm, Cary G. Schiff & Associates.
Berar claims Schiff didn't properly defend him in July 2009 after he was sued by his condominium association for violating certain rules, although he alleges those rules had never been adopted by a vote of the unit owners.
He accuses Schiff of failing to disclose to the court the fact these rules weren't in effect, which resulted in him losing and his family being evicted.
Berar is seeking damages in the amount of $50,000 and is representing himself in the case.
