A family is suing over claims their son underwent unnecessary spine surgery.
Jordan, Jose and Kimberly Cotto filed a medical malpractice lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Fernando Techy.
According to the complaint, Techy performed spine surgery on Jordan Cotto, a minor at the time, on March 2, 2012 at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago. The Cottos accuse Techy of performing an unnecessary surgery instead of conducting a non-operative treatment.
The family is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by attorneys David J. Pritchard and Aaron D. Boeder of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C.
