An Oak Park man is asking for a court review an Illinois State Police decision that denied him a gun permit.
Donald Shelton filed a complaint for administrative review June 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against the ISP Firearms Services Bureau, Hiram Grau, ISP's director, and Jessica Trame, chief of the Firearms Services Bureau.
According to the complaint, Shelton filed an application with the defendants for a conceal carry license, which was denied April 4. He claims the denial was based on unfounded claims that he poses a danger to himself and others.
Shelton states that since he has not been able to view the paperwork regarding his application, he can't determine why his license was denied. He asserts the denial violates his rights.
Shelton, who is representing himself, is asking the court to order the defendants to turn over all materials regarding the denial of his application for purposes of judicial review and for them to grant him a concealed carry license.
