Woman's ulcers leads to negligence claim against Manor Care of Kankakee

Karno

A nursing home resident is accusing the owners of a Kankakee facility of providing her with poor care that led to the development of ulcers.

Rosemary T. Brown filed suit June 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against Manorcare Health Services LLC and Manor Care of Kankakee, Ill. LLC.

According to the complaint, Brown was a resident of the defendant's nursing home facility at 900 N. River Place in Kankakee on June 1, 2013.

While a resident there, Brown alleges she developed ulcers that caused her pain and suffering even though the nursing home's staff was aware she was at high risk for developing ulcers. She accuses the defendants of negligence and violating the state's Nursing Home Care Act.

Brown is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs, and is represented by attorney Mark L. Karno of Mark L. Karno and Associates.
