Cyclist accuses driver of hitting him after pulling out of a Division Street parking space

A man is suing a driver of the vehicle that he alleges struck him while riding a bicycle in Chicago.

Pedro Villegas Guzman filed a lawsuit June 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jason Benton, alleging negligence.

Guzman claims he was riding his bicycle west on Division Street on July 4, 2012, when Benton pulled out of a designated parallel parking space and hit him. The suit alleges Guzman suffered injuries to his limbs, back, spine and face.

Guzman is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Theodore F. Vineski of Fred A. Truglio & Associates LLC.
