Widow sues trucking companies, driver over husband's death

Kirschner

A woman is suing a pair of trucking companies and a driver over a collision she alleges killed her husband.

Renea Lundberg, as administrator of the Estate of Donald W. Lundberg, filed suit June 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Siefeddin M. Khattab, US National Freight System Inc. and Transtar Express LLC, alleging trucking negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the vehicle Donald was driving in was hit by a semi-truck driven by Khattab on May 30 at the intersection of Arsenal and Baseline roads near the Joliet Army Training Center.

Lundberg alleges Khattab was negligently driving the semi-truck as an employee of defendant companies and caused the collision that killed her husband.

Khattab, the suit claims, wasn't paying attention to the traffic around him, failed to stop at a red light, didn't decrease speed to avoid the accident and failed to yield the right-of-way to Donald's vehicle.

Lundberg is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented by Chicago attorney Daniel S. Kirschner of Corboy & Demetrio PC.
