A Chicago man is suing the law firm he hired to set up his mother's estate, accusing it of mishandling the matter.
Anthony Phillips filed suit June 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Joanne B. Bruzgul and Bruzgul & Associates Ltd.
According to the complaint, Phillips hired Bruzgul and her firm to represent him in the appointment of his mother's estate in March 2012. During a hearing June 27, 2012, Phillips claims Bruzgul represented him regarding guardianship of his mother's estate, but failed to structure the order agreed on at the hearing in a way that benefited him.
Phillips accuses the defendants of legal malpractice and breach of contract. He is seeking damages is excess of $50,000 and is representing himself.
