A couple is suing over claims the negligence of an Oak Lawn hospital and four of its doctors left the wife with post-surgery injuries.

Danielle Aburto and Carlos Aburto filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Women's Health Institute of Illinois and Advocate Health Hospital Corp., doing business as Advocate Christ Medical Center, and Drs. According to the suit, Danielle went to the defendants on June 12, 2012 for the evaluation and treatment of a pelvic organ prolapse and other conditions. The couple claims the defendants failed to properly treat the prolapse during surgery, which caused Danielle to develop various complications, including perianal abscess, rectal pain, vaginal pain, discharge and infection.

Danielle, the complaint states, underwent five other procedures to determine and correct the alleged complications caused by the prolapse surgery. The couple claims she now suffers from health complications, including incontinence of the bowel and bladder.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages and are being represented by Chicago attorneys Gabriel Hardy of Goodman Tovrov Hardy & Johnson LLC and Indiana attorney Ray Gupta.
