Harvey landlord, HSBC Bank face premises liability claim over alleged porch collapse

A Cook County man is suing over claims he was injured on the back porch of the property he was renting.

Deshawn Bryant filed a lawsuit June 26 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jesus J. Rodriguez, also known as JJ Rodriguez, and HSBC Bank USA N.A., also known as HSBC Holdings PLC, HSBC USA and HSBC North America Holdings Inc., alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Bryant was a tenant of the defendants' property on Myrtle Avenue in the City of Harvey on July 3, 2012, when he sustained injuries after the back porch railing collapsed on him.

Bryant accuses the defendants of failing to maintain the premises and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. He is being represented by the Law Office of Andrew S. Kryder LLC in Chicago.
