A man is suing over claims he was injured when a television fell off the wall in a hospital room where his wife was giving birth.
Eric Cannon filed a lawsuit July 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Loyola University Health System and Frank H. Stowell & Sons Inc., alleging premises liability.
According to the complaint, Cannon was with his wife at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood for the delivery of their child on Feb. 13, 2013, when a TV mounted on the wall became dislodged by nearby construction and fell on him.
He accuses Loyola University Health System of failing to adequately secure the television on the wall and Frank H. Stowell & Sons, the company responsible for the construction, of failing to ascertain what level of noise and movement the hospital could withstand.
Cannon is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney David M. Sternberg of Sachs, Earnest & Associates Ltd. in Chicago.
