Trip over carpeting spurs premises liability suit against Natural Falls Resort Apartments

A man is suing over claims he was injured when he tripped on stairwell carpeting in an apartment building.

Sean Pettiford filed a lawsuit July 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against WR Property Management LLC, doing business as Natural Falls Resort Apartments, BCHWestwood LLC and BCHPineridge LLC, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Pettiford was on the defendants' property on Woodridge Drive in the V illage of Woodridge on Oct. 18, 2012, when he tripped on a defect in the carpet in the stairwell, fell down the stairs and sustained injuries. The defendants are accused of being negligent in the upkeep of their premises.

Pettiford is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Marc D. Alberts of The Law Office of Marc D. Alberts P.C. in Chicago.
