Alliance Healthcare Solutions faces personal injury suit over patient's fall

The estate of a disabled Cook County woman is suing over claims she was injured when her caregivers left her unsupervised.

As guardian of the Estate of Norma A. Checchini, Susan M. Rentschler filed suit July 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Alliance Healthcare Solutions Inc., alleging personal injury.

According to the complaint, Checchini resided on North Plainfield Avenue in Chicago with 24-hour caregivers supplied by Alliance Healthcare. Rentschler alleges Checchiniwas left unsupervised on her back porch on Sept. 12, when she fell and struck her head on the concrete sidewalk.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide Checchini with the supervision and care she needed for a safe environment.

Rentschler is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional amount, plus costs, and is being represented by attorney James T. Newman of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.
