The city's transit authority is suing a driver it claims caused a car collision with one of its employees, requiring it pay out workers' compensation benefits.
The Chicago Transit Authority filed a lawsuit July 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jerry Arroyo.
According to the complaint, a CTA employee was driving a vehicle in the scope of his employment on Central Park Avenue on July 17, 2012, when he stopped and was struck by a vehicle driven by Arroyo.
The transit authority claims it has incurred expenses in the payment of the employee's workers' comp claim. It accuses Arroyo of failing to stop and negligently operating his vehicle.
The CTA is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by its general counsel, Karen Seimetz.
