Suit: Party attendants injured after driver knocked over nearby utility pole

Earnes

Two men are suing over claims they were injured at a party when a driver struck a nearby utility pole.

Nicholas Koppers and Kyle Knight filed a lawsuit July 21 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Kameron Woodruff, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Koppers and Knight were at a social gathering on Burnham Avenue in Lansing on Nov. 10, when Woodruff drove his vehicle down the driveway of the residence hosting the party, lost control and struck a utility pole.

The plaintiffs say they were near the pole when it fell and were injured while attempting to  avoid the pole and Woodruff's vehicle. The suit accuses Woodruff of negligence and battery, and alleges he left the scene of the incident.

Koppers and Knight are seeking damages and are being represented in the case by attorney Brent R. Eames of Whiteside & Goldberg Ltd. in Chicago.
