An Evanston woman is suing over injuries she allegedly sustained while trying to complete a bank transaction.

Elisabeth Kalmar filed suit July 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A., doing business as Chase.

According to the complaint, Kalmar was conducting business at the defendant's bank at 901 Grove St. in Evanston on Aug. 3, 2012, when her shoe caught on the carpet, causing her to lose her balance, fall and hit her head on a window ledge.

Kalmar, who the suit states was 83 at the time of the incident, claims she suffered severe injuries from the fall and accuses the bank of failing to warn customers about the condition of the carpet.

Kalmar is seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus interest and costs, and is being represented by Chicago attorney Richard C. Moenning.
