Man claims he was hit by fence, gate after wind blew them over

A pedestrian is suing a pair of companies over claims he was struck by a fence and gate when the wind blew them over.

Dino Johnson filed suit July 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against National Construction Rentals Inc. and Maverick Companies Inc.

According to the complaint, Johnson was walking on a sidewalk next to the defendants' property at 7200 S. Stoney Island Ave. in Chicago on Sept. 12, when he was hit by a fence and gate that were blown over by the wind.

The defendants are accused of improperly maintaining the fence and gate, failing to make a reasonable inspection of the fence and gate, failing to warn of the dangerous conditions and being careless of maintaining the fence and gate.

Johnson is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 plus costs and is represented by the Chicago law firm of Heller & Richmond Ltd.
