A man is suing over claims he lost sight in his eye after undergoing opthalmology surgery.

Johnny B. Summerville filed a lawsuit July 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Norwegian American Hospital, Lake Shore Retina S.C. and Drs. Ricardo Nieves and Sri Maguluri, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Summerville underwent cataract surgery at Norwegian American Hospital on July 18, 2012. He accuses Maguluri and Nieves of implanting an improperly sized lens in his eye and negligently performing the surgery, which resulted in the loss of sight in his right eye.

Summerville is seeking damages and is being represented in the case by D. Jeffrey Comeau of O'Connor & Nakos Ltd. in Chicago.
