Woman claims city failed to maintain sewer grate in Millennium Park

Scales

A woman is suing over claims she was injured on a sewer grate in Millennium Park.

Courtney Wheaton filed a lawsuit July 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Chicago, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, Wheaton was at Millennium Park on Aug. 4, 2013, when she slipped and fell on a rotting sewer grate incapable of bearing weight with protruding handles. She accuses the city of failing to maintain the grate in such a heavily traversed area.

Wheaton is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Francis J. Discipio Ltd. in Oak Brook.
