Muralist sues Chicago Soccer, Goal Bar & Grill over ladder fall

A man is suing over claims he was injured when he fell off a ladder while painting a mural. paint a mural.

John Vargas filed a premises liability lawsuit Aug. 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Chicago Soccer Inc. and Goal Bar & Grill.

According to the complaint, John Vargas was painting a mural for the defendants on their premises on West North Avenue in Melrose Park on Sept. 7, 2012, when the ladder they supplied slipped, causing Vargas to fall to the floor.

Vargas sustained fractures to both his heels that required surgery, the suit states.

The defendants are accused of being negligent  by having the floor painted shortly before hiring Vargas to perform work that would require a ladder.

Vargas is seeking more than $50,000 in damagesand is being represented in the case by attorney Todd Carcelli in Chicago.
