Water slide injury leads to lawsuit against Six Flags' water park

Sixflagswaterpark

A woman is suing the owner of a Gurnee water park, claiming her hand and fingers were cut while going a slide.

Shatoya Meeks refiled a lawsuit she had voluntarily dismissed on Sept. 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against Great America LLC, doing business as Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor.

According to the complaint, Meeks was riding the Riptide Bay water slide at Hurricane Harbor in the Village of Gurnee on July 1, 2011, when her left wrist and right hand and fingers were cut on the slide. She accuses the defendant of operating a dangerous slide.

Meeks is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Joseph G. Ryan of Gordon & Centracchio in Chicago.
