Martin 150x150

The widow of a former welder is suing over claims her husband died from mesothelioma that was caused from asbestos exposure.

Thelma Totten, as special administrator of the Estate of William Totten, filed a complaint Nov. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co., H.B. Fuller Co., Union Carbide Chemicals and Plastics Co. and dozens of other companies.

According to the complaint, William Totten was exposed to the defendants' asbestos-containing products between 1962 and 1983, during which time he was employed in various capacities including as a welder.

Thelma Totten says her husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma on July 13, 2013 and died on April 28, 2014. She claims the defendants were aware or should have been aware of the potential risks of long-term asbestos exposure and failed to warn about the dangers.

Thelma Totten is seeking damages, plus court costs, and is represented by attorney Timothy G. Martin of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.
