A man who says he was diagnosed with lung cancer this past summer is suing dozens of companies, claiming the disease was caused by his exposure to asbestos containing products.
Terrance L. Cashmore filed a complaint Nov. 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co., H.B. Fuller Co., Union Carbide Corp. and several others.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed in various capacities, including as a machine operator and carpenter, from 1964 to 1979, during which time he was exposed to products containing asbestos.
Cashmore claims he was diagnosed with lung cancer on July 10, 2013 and contends the defendants were aware or should have been aware of the potential risks of long-term asbestos exposure, but failed to minimize those risks or warn about the dangers.
He is seeking damages and is represented by attorney Michael T. Egan of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.
