A user of the city's transit system is suing over claims she fell on "water and a thick, slime-like substance" at the bottom of the stairwell at a Blue Line station.
Lynne Bennett filed suit Nov. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority.
According to the complaint, Bennett slipped and fell on Feb. 7 while using the stairs to a pedestrian tunnel running from South State Street to South Dearborn Street that connects the CTA Blue Line Jackson station to the Red Line Jackson station.
She blames the defendant for her fall, which caused her to sustain serious injuries, claiming the CTA had a responsibility to maintain a safe environment for customers and employees.
Bennett seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, and is represented by attorneys Ryan T. McNulty and Thomas G. Gorman of Schiff Gorman in Chicago.
