Kroll

A Mount Prospect woman is suing over claims she fell on an uneven tile while on property owned and maintained by a Chicago commercial complex company.

Karen and Kevin Grouwinkel filed a lawsuit Jan. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court against JBC Funds Triangle Plaza, Equity Commonwealth Management, Reit Management & Research and Triangle Plaza of Chicago, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on April 8, 2013, Karen Grouwinkel fell on an uneven tile while on the premises of Triangle Plaza at 8770 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.

She contends the defendants negligently failed to warn her of the unsafe condition and properly secure the tile in place, causing her to fall, hit the left side of her body and sustain injuries.

Her husband, Kevin Grouwinkel, is suing for loss of consortium. They are seeking damages and are represented by attorney Jeffrey J. Kroll of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard in Chicago.

This is a report on a civil lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court. The details in this report come from an original complaint filed by a plaintiff. Please note, a complaint represents an accusation by a private individual, not the government. It is not an indication of guilt and represents only one side of the story.
