Woman files suit alleging dog attack

Scales 150x150

A Cook County woman is suing a Chicago man over claims his dog attacked her.

Maryann Rzepa filed suit in Cook County Circuit Court against Ricardo (Richard) Bendoraitis, alleging negligence and violations of the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to the complaint, Rzepa was lawfully on or near property owned by Bendoraitis in the 6500 block of South California Avenue on Jan. 6, 2013, when his dog attacked her without provocation. Rzepa alleges Bendoraitis failed to restrict and control his dog, resulting in the attack that left her injured.

Rzepa seeks damages in excess of $50,000, along with costs, and is represented by Glenview attorney John S. Muir of Muir Law Offices.
