A woman who claims she was electrocuted while using an electrical outlet in her South Side apartment is suing.
Malkeia Walker filed a lawsuit Jan. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against East Lake Management Group Inc. and United Germano Millgate LP.
According to the complaint, Walker lived in a building owned and managed by the defendants in the 8000 Block of South Burley Avenue on Jan. 17, 2013, when she plugged her cell phone charger into an outlet and was electrocuted.
Walker accuses the defendants of failing to properly maintain and inspect the building's electrical system. She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by Chicago attorney Zane D. Smith of Zane D. Smith & Associates.
