Fall in crosswalk near Cook County Criminal Courthouse triggers suit

Hecht 120x150

A woman is suing the city and county over claims she fell while walking through a crosswalk area between the courthouse and parking facilities.

Katherine Levine filed suit Jan. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Chicago and Cook County.

According to the complaint, Levine sustained injuries on Jan. 10, 2014, when she was crossing South California Boulevard while traveling to and from parking facilities and the Cook County Criminal Courthouse, causing injuries.

The suit states Levine fell because the defendants failed to repair holes and sections of broken pavement near the crosswalk and allowed the crosswalk to remain in a dangerous condition.

Levine is represented by attorney Brian R. Hecht of Richard F. Mallen & Associates in Chicago.
