A man is suing the operator and management company of Navy Pier over claims he fell through a gap in a loading dock while working.

Robert Vos filed a lawsuit Jan. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority and Navy Pier Inc.

According to the complaint, Vos was working on Dock 5 of "Festival Hall" at Navy Pier on March 24, 2014, when he fell through a gap of Dock 6, resulting in injuries. He alleges the dock was not sitting flush with the concrete surface, which created a large gap and drop between the walking surface and the dock.

He accuses the defendants of failing to repair the defective dock plate, eliminate the drop and warn patrons of the dangerous condition.

Vos is represented by attorney Toby P. Mulholland of Rubens and Kress in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number: 2015L000433.
