A man is suing the county, accusing it of failing to properly inspect a hospital elevator that allegedly injured him.
William Rerucha filed a lawsuit Jan. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Cook County.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 14, 2014, Rerucha was dispatched by his employer to perform work at the county-owned John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. In order to perform his work, Rerucha had to enter the freight elevator, the suit states, and while on the elevator, the vertical bi-parting door slammed shut, trapping and injuring him.
Rerucha alleges Cook County failed to inspect and maintain the freight elevator. He also says the county failed to warn riders of the dangerous condition of the elevator.
Rerucha is represented by Dolan Law Offices in Chicago.
