Woman sues Sears over slip in Aurora store

Stone 150x150

A woman is suing a large department chain store for allegedly allowing an oil substance to remain on its floor, causing her to fall.

Amisadai Alanis filed a lawsuit Jan. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Sears Holdings Corp., Sears Holdings Management Corp. and Sears, Roebuck and Co.

According to the complaint, Alanis slipped and fell on a liquid substance on Aug. 18, 2013, when she was in an aisle of the Sears store in Fox Valley Center in Aurora, causing her to sustain injuries.

Alanis accuses the defendants of allowing an oil substance to remain on the floor of the aisle when they knew or should have known of the danger and not warning business invitees of condition.

She is represented by attorney Gary D. Stone of Karchmar & Stone in Chicago.
