Woman sues retailer and affiliates for injuries after a fall

A Chicago woman is suing several parties affiliated with a local retailer after she was injured in a fall she claims was triggered by icy and snowy walking conditions.

Provo Group Inc. (also known as Evergreen Plaza Associates I, L.P.), ABM Janitorial Services - North Central Inc., and Bon Ton Distribution Inc. (doing business as Carson Pirie Scott), were named as defendants in a suit filed by Carol Ross on May 8, 2015, in Cook County Circuit Court. Ross is alleging negligence and carelessness on the part of the defendants.

According to the lawsuit, Ross fell on February 28, 2015, while entering the Carson Pirie Scott store at 9500 S. Western Ave. in Chicago. Her suit claims negligence and carelessness by the defendants caused the unsafe conditions. The case also alleges defendants failed to provide warning and to remedy the unsafe conditions when they were made known.

The plaintiff claims she suffered both temporary and permanent injuries in the fall.

Ross seeks compensatory damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and possible other amounts to be determined by the court. She is represented by Michael S. Fiorentino of Fiorentino Law Offices in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L004750.
