A woman is suing after falling out of a stylist's rolling chair.
Constance Gurgone filed a complaint on June 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Smartstyle Family Hair Salon and Regis Corp., doing business as Smartstyle Family Hair Salon.
On July 29, 2014, Gurgone was at the defendant salon at 9245 W. 159th St., Orland Hills.
According to the lawsuit, services were performed on her in a chair with wheels. As she attempted to get out the chair, the lawsuit states, she was caused to fall and injured herself.
The defendant is cited with carelessness or negligence for failing to maintain a safe business area; properly secure the stylist chair; supervise her movement throughout the premises; and warn her about the possibility the chair would roll or move.
As a result, the lawsuit states, Gurgone suffered injury, pain and suffering, disfigurement, loss of earnings and medical bills.
The plaintiff, citing premises liability, seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit.
