Man sues trailer falls on him at workplace

Forkliftoperator

A man is suing over being injured when a trailer toppled onto the forklift he was operating at work.

Jamal Sampson filed a complaint June 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Williams NationalLease Ltd., Strick Corp. and Jost International.

On June 14, 2013, Sampson was working as a forklift operator for ZF Lemforder. While he was operating the forklift along 126th Street in Lansing, the trailer being driven by a Williams NationalLease employee collapsed, causing the forklift to shift and fall.

The defendants are cited with carelessly and negligently failing to equip the trailer with proper landing gear, maintaining the trailer and positioning the trailer correctly.

As a result, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff suffered injury, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and medical expenses.

The plaintiff, alleging negligence and product liability, seeks damages of more than $150,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Emma Smoler, of the Smoler Law Office PC in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L005943.
